7 Horns Service Offering

and Price List 2008

We are currently able to provide a number of services to help film makers, script writers, producers, directors and anyone within the film industry use multiple languages within their production.

Although we currently specialize in Mandarin > English or English > Mandarin (including some of the dialects) using Traditional or Simplified Character sets.  We are also, however, able to provide translation services in French, German, Spanish and Italian.  Other languages may be possible on demand.

Our Services include:

Script Translation

We have dedicated specialists who have considerable experience in translating scripts for both movies and TV.  They understand that having the specific terminology translated correctly is of the upmost importance and that stage direction and camera angles need to be precise in order for the creation to be a success.  Every 7 Horns script translation team has at least 2 members; one of which is native to the source language and one of which is native to the destination language.  A further example of our dedication to excellence is that once a translation is complete it is sent to a QA team for review before the finished product is sent back to you, the customer.

Transcription

We understand that it is not always possible to provide a transcript of the creation.  We are happy to be able to offer help in this area by having a member of our team go through the film/program and fully transcribe the dialogue and any other items required i.e. Place Names etc.

‘Standard’ Translation

As everbody knows there is no such thing as a ‘standard’ translation.  Each can be different for a number of reasons; technical jargon, specialist vocabulary etc.  Every 7 Horns translation team has at least 2 members; one of which is native to the source language and one of which is native to the destination language.  As a benchmark we try to achieve 2,000 characters per day.

Subtitle Creation

We have a specialist team that handles all text, once translated, and can place it in a number of different formats ready for rendering to a video format; our team generally uses .srt files.

Video Editing/Rendering

For some this is the most important element of their creation for non-native speakers of the language.  If viewers need to use the subtitles they must be able to read them.  We have systems and specialists in place that are able to use a wide variety of techniques, fonts and colours so that when subtitles appear on the screen they are clearly legible.  Should customers wish to use a specific font it will need to be supplied to our team.

As 7 Horns is dedicated to excellence we often ask to be in constant contact with the creators so that any work we do is 100% approved and 100% correct which minimizes any possible delays.

You can see from the above example that it would typically take approximately 30 days from receipt of the document,  in this case a script, to complete the translation.  During that time we would inform you, the customer of our progress at periodic intervals.  We would also like to be able to contact you should there be any ambiguity within the text so that our translations teams can understand the exact meaning.
